Better service. Better food. Better tips.
How you’d use TipAfter at your restaurant
Pickup is the heart of TipAfter. Customers order ahead and pick up at your counter. Fair tipping rewards great service. 100% of tips go to your staff. You pay 8% of menu items only. Delivery is optional, with your own drivers.
★ Pickup first. Delivery only if you want it.
- Pickup is what TipAfter is built for. Order ahead, a quick counter handoff, and food that goes straight from your kitchen to your customer.
- Delivery is an optional add-on. Coming for restaurants that choose it. Turn it on only if you want it. Delivery with real payments is not live yet.
- Your own drivers, not gig drivers. You keep control of food quality, the customer relationship and the handoff. 100% of each delivery tip goes to your driver.
- Same 8% of menu items either way. Nothing on tax, delivery fees or tips. See how that compares with DoorDash and Uber Eats.
1 Day 1 setup
- Go to tipafter.com/restaurants/join. Takes about two minutes on your phone.
- Enter your restaurant name, your name, email, phone, and city. Pickup is on by default. Add delivery only if you run your own drivers.
- Choose what register you use (or “no register”). See the next section. You can change this later.
- Add your menu, hours, and tip splits for staff if you use a tip pool. In the pilot we help you load the first menu.
- Connect payouts with Stripe when you’re ready. Stripe checks your ID and bank. TipAfter never sees your bank login.
2 Connecting your register
Pick one path. TipAfter works the same either way.
- Orders show on a tablet or phone kitchen screen TipAfter provides.
- No extra software. This is how the prototype runs today.
- Pickup orders can push into Square.
- Mock on the preview today. Real Square sandbox keys come later.
- Square may charge its own 1% on orders paid outside Square. That is Square’s fee, not TipAfter’s.
- We apply as a Toast partner.
- When allowed, a tip can update on Toast orders that were paid elsewhere.
- Until then, use the TipAfter kitchen screen.
- TipAfter does not talk to Clover directly.
- Path is Otter or Deliverect (Deliverect app submitted; Otter inquiry drafted).
- Tips never pass through the register.
- 100% of tips go to staff or the driver.
3 A sample order (fake pizza)
Customer orders a $20 pizza and adds a $3 tip.
- Customer pays food + tax (+ delivery if any) through TipAfter. Food $20.
- Kitchen sees the order. Cook makes the pizza.
- At pickup (or delivery), staff confirm the handoff.
- The customer adds a $3 tip. The full $3 goes to the cook (pickup) or driver (delivery).
food + tax · $3 tip$20 + tax + $3
8% of $20 menu only · never from tip$1.60
Food after fee · tax as configured$18.40 + tax
100% of the tip$3.00
Honest status: production currently runs DEMO payments (no real money yet). Real Stripe payouts are next after counsel review and Stripe live.
4 How the restaurant gets paid
- You connect a bank account through Stripe (Express / Connect). Plain words: Stripe holds the card charge, then sends your share to your bank on a schedule.
- Food money (after TipAfter’s 8% of menu items) lands in that bank account.
- Tips transfer to staff (pickup tip pool) or the driver (delivery). Owners and managers never keep tips. TipAfter takes $0 of tips.
- Today the app is in demo mode for most flows. Sandbox Stripe exists for join testing. Live payouts come after counsel + Stripe live.
5 What staff do
- Kitchen sees the new order on the TipAfter screen (or your connected register).
- Cook the food as usual. Mark ready when it’s done.
- Hand the order to the customer (or driver) and confirm the handoff.
- Tips go to the staff pool or driver.
Staff do not tip out TipAfter. The tip is theirs.
6 What it costs
No fee on tax, delivery fees, or tips. Decided for the pilot.
7 Your own link for Google
Every restaurant gets its own link, like tipafter.com/r/your-restaurant. Customers open it and order. They do not need an account. Use the same link on your Google listing, website, Instagram bio, table QR code and receipts.
- Finish sign-up. Your link, a copy button and a QR code show on the “You’re in” screen. The link starts working when we turn on your listing. We’ll tell you.
- In your Google Business Profile choose Edit profile, then Food ordering. Turn on “Accept orders on your profile”, choose Add link, paste your link and Save. Your business must be verified on Google first.
- Select the link, choose Set as preferred for pickup and/or delivery, and Save. Google reviews links and may take a few days. It also needs to be able to open the page, which ours allows.
Google does not allow social media, link shorteners or app store links as order links, and takes one ordering link per website address. Google’s help page (opens in a new tab)
