of menu items (the food subtotal), flat. There is no separate charge for card processing; TipAfter pays Stripe's card fees out of the 8%.

Diners
No TipAfter fee for diners. You pay the menu price, tax, and any delivery fee shown at checkout.
What the 8% applies to
| Part of the order | TipAfter fee |
|---|---|
| Menu items (food subtotal) | Flat 8% (TipAfter pays card fees from it) |
| Sales tax | None |
| Delivery fee | None |
| Tips | None (0%) |
| Monthly / setup fee | None |
Example: on a $40.00 food subtotal, the TipAfter fee is $3.20. The restaurant receives the rest of the food charge. If the diner tips $6.00, the full $6.00 goes to the staff or driver.
If an order is refunded, the matching TipAfter fee is refunded too.
How the money moves
TipAfter uses Stripe Connect. Each restaurant and driver has its own Stripe Express account, opened and verified directly with Stripe.
- Food payment: at checkout the diner's card is charged for the food, tax, and any delivery fee. Tip After LLC is the merchant of record: the charge is made by Tip After LLC through Stripe and sent on to the restaurant's Stripe account, minus the 8% fee on menu items. It appears on the diner's card statement as TIPAFTER followed by a short form of the restaurant's name.
- Tip: any tip the diner chooses is charged as a separate payment and sent in full to the restaurant's tip pool (pickup) or the driver (delivery). No fee is taken.
- Only active accounts take orders: diners can place paid orders only with restaurants whose Stripe payment account is active. A restaurant that is still getting set up cannot accept orders, and TipAfter never holds diner payments waiting for a restaurant's account.
- Payout: Stripe pays out each restaurant's and driver's balance to their bank on Stripe's payout schedule.
TipAfter never sees or stores full card numbers; card entry is handled by Stripe.
